About me

Zikhona Mapeyi (Isingqi saKwaNtu), praise singer, poet, story teller, motivational speaker.She grew up in Whittlesea, Queenstown. She went on to attend at Walter Sisulu University,
where she is studying African Languages in the Department of Educational Sciences.
Sums herself up as being proud of her language, roots and culture. The love of poetry and isiXhosa took her to places, while she was at high school (Hewu High School)
she devoted herself to public speaking, peer education and writing poems and plays for school events. She also wrote poems for Writing Is Fun of Rhodes University of Grahamstown.
She motivates young people to keep their roots, culture and background through poetry at local radio stations like Lukhanji FM @Queenstown, Vukani Community Radio @Cala and UNITRA Community Radio @Mtata.
She was also awarded as the best traditional poet in Queenstown Music Awards of Mongezi Feza Records Jazz Band. She perfomed as a praise singer at Grahamstown national arts festival of 2016.
